+I am aware of the difference between Gmail's labels vs. Outlook's folders, but I would expect that Gmail does what is necessary to make the folders appear correct over the IMAP connection to Outlook. For example, if I drag a message from Outlook's All Mail folder to Trash, I see that message disappear from the Inbox folder after a short delay. Hence, the trashing of messages is registering on Gmail. It's just that the contents seem completely disconnected from what I see using webmail.

+I work in a small company and for the past 2 weeks we've been having issues with customer support Outlook account. The account is used as IMAP in all customer support clients, every time you set up the mail in anyones computer [repair corrupted OST in Outlook](https://git.epochteca.com/ceryschick3817/1296950/-/issues/2) it just sync 30-50GB ost files... And because of the size, this is making the mail simply stop working after one day of normal use, forcing the users to end outlook process to make the mail sync again properly... But only when you close/open the mail again.

+Microsoft Outlook is terrible in IMAP. Hence most people only use MAPI with it. If you are forced to use IMAP, I would recommend switching to an alternative E-Mail client like Thunderbird Thunderbird — Free Your Inbox.

+If you can, turn off IMAP, require 2FA, and use the native outlook client.Their webmail works fine, and when this account is added to the Windows Mail app, everything works perfectly.I also noticed that some IMAP settings — like the root folder path (e.g. "INBOX") — are not available in the new Outlook, which makes troubleshooting more difficult.I would suggest that frequent changes to folder contents on multiple devices will make it go wrong.I’ve never heard of setting a path before for email, so apologies if this is a simple solution to those who come across this in the future.Simply enter your email address OR username in order to reset your password.
